The road to rice
The Vercellese plain: a little-known land but witness to a strong and rooted history and a rare geography not only in Italy but throughout Europe.
In the morning visit of Vercelli, with a tour that will touch all the most rich points of history: the beautiful Basilica of St. Andrew, the Cathedral of St. Eusebio, the Synagogue, the Dugentesco Hall and finally Cavour square, with its historic cafes and ancient pastries.
Lunch on an estate in the area, with attached indoor shop. From appetizers to dessert we will follow a single common thread, related to the true ruler of this area: rice.
In the afternoon the tour will continue with a total dive into the “water lands”, through the spectacular scenery of the rice paddies.
We will visit an ancient estate that dates back about five centuries and which is now home to the ECOMUSEO OF PADDY.
Inside, with a patient and meticulous work, all the environments of the time were recreated, from the houses to the workshops of artisans to the school, rebuilt with authentic furnishings and relocated to their original location.
